Our national partner is Share Our Strength. They are a non-profit organization whose sole mission is ending childhood hunger by the year 2015 through the execution of events including Taste of the Nation, the Great American Bake Sale, and the Great American Dine Out; and the implementation of programs like Operation Front Line. The concept behind the name Share Our Strength is derived from the belief that poverty is complex; feeding a child is not.  Everyone has a Strength and everyone has something to Share!  Chefs, Companies, Volunteers and everyday Americans who care to make a difference.

Taste of the Nation Impact: Share our Strength
  • Since 1988, Taste of the Nation events have raised more than $70 million.
  • Since 2004, Taste of the Nation funds have helped:
    • Increase access to public and private programs that provide healthy food to those in need by:
      • Distributing 2.5 billion pounds of food
      • Distributing 277 million pounds of gleaned produce
      • Serving 63 million meals to families.
    • Strengthen the community infrastructure to get healthy food to children by:
      • Serving 791,000 kids through privately funded children feeding programs–that’s 23 million meals!
      • Taught families how to get the most nutrition out of a limited budget by:
      • Educating 95,000 adults in nutrition education classes
      • Educating 200,000 children in nutrition education classes programs
      • Provided 2.5 million hours of nutrition education– this equals 106,000 days/15,000 weeks
About Share Our Strength
  • National organization working to make sure no kid in America grows up hungry. We weave together a net of community groups, activists and food programs to catch children at risk of hunger, and surround them with nutritious food where they live, learn and play.
About Childhood Hunger in America
  • In the world’s wealthiest nation, no child should grow up hungry. At times during the year, more than 12 million children in America worry about when their next meal will come.
  • That’s one in six who are at risk of hunger, and who have limited or uncertain access to the nutritious foods they need to develop to their full potential.
  • Despite its devastating and highly visible consequences, childhood hunger is invisible. You can’t see it just by looking, and you can’t measure it in pounds, but it is among us: It affects black, white, Asian and Hispanic, short and tall, thin and chubby.

Over the past 20 plus years, we have raised over $700,000 for organizations that have directly impacted the lives of people who experience hunger within our own community as well as across the nation. We are a year-round committee that executes events with the goal of raising funds and awareness in the mission to end hunger. Our national partner is Share Our Strength.
